Moving to Vietnam
When moving to Vietnam, you may consider taking your belongings with you. Transpack offers various transportation options to get your goods to your new home in Vietnam, such as booking air freight, sea freight and groupage services.
The cost of moving to Vietnam
The cost of sea freight and groupage services to Vietnam is relatively low compared to other countries. The container price for shipping to the country is low, making a private container a good option. By shipping your items together with those of others (groupage), you share those low costs and the move becomes even more affordable. Air freight, on the other hand, is expensive, so it is also advisable to only use it for small shipments that you need at very short notice.

How long will it take for my belongings to travel to Vietnam?
The average duration of your move via air freight is 2 to 3 weeks. For sea freight, this is different due to the incredibly large distances in the country. However, in general, you can assume that the container will take 4 to 6 weeks to reach the port of destination. The time at customs and any subsequent road transport is therefore not included. A Transpack employee can give you a better idea of the transit times to specific destinations in the country. Groupage transport takes an average of 10 to 12 weeks because the container leaves as soon as it is full, so your goods can remain in the warehouse for a while before departure.

What do you take with you when you emigrate to Vietnam?
To help you prepare for your trip, we have listed a number of tips for you. Be careful not to send documents, keys, medicines, jewelry and other important items in sea and/or air freight.
Clothing
| Vietnam has a tropical climate. Therefore, light clothing is recommended. In the North it can get colder in the winter and in the highlands it is a bit cooler all year round. For these areas, take an extra outdoor jacket or vest. |
Travel plug | The mains voltage in Vietnam is around 220 Volts and the frequency is 50 Hertz. You will need a (world) adapter plug if you bring electrical appliances. |
Medicines | Check if your medication is available in Vietnam and what the maximum amount is that you are allowed to take with you. Also check if you need a medical certificate to take medication with you on your trip. |
Documents | Take important documents such as passport, visa documents etc. in your hand luggage – also make copies. |
Personal belongings | Think of your favorite toiletries, items that remind you of home, and other things you can’t do without when traveling. Tip: pack an extra set of clothes in your carry-on in case your checked baggage is delayed or lost. |
